NFVCB boss in court for allegedly stealing generator set

Executive director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) Thomas Adedayo has appeared in a Wuse Zone 6 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja for allegedly stealing a generator set.

Mr Adedayo is being accused by the police according to a First Information Report (FIR) made available to NAN on Thursday.

Police prosecutor Godwin Ochai informed the court that the defendant allegedly carried out the act on February 6, 2017 at the Lagos Zonal office of the board.

Mr Ochai said that the defendant broke the fence of the board’s zonal office and took the 500KVA generator set without consent of the office.

The prosecutor added that Adedayo also did not inform the Federal Ministry of Information, the parent ministry of the board, before carrying the item.

Ochai said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 286 of the Penal Code and also punishable under section 287 of the same law, CAP 705 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004.

Adedayo has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He has been admitted to bail to the tune of N200,000 by Senior Magistrate Ahmed Ndajiwo.

Mr Ndajiwo said that the defendant would produce a surety who must be resident within the court jurisdiction with a defined address verifiable by the prosecution counsel.

The matter has been adjourned till January 28.
