Doyin Okupe released, says EFCC treated him with courtesy

Former presidential spokesperson Doyin Okupe has been released from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody.

Mr Okupe made this known in a message on Twitter on Wednesday night.

The former presidential aide added that he was treated with ‘utmost courtesy’ by EFCC operatives.

Okupe was detained on Monday after honouring the commission’s request for him to show up at their Lagos office for questioning on cybercrime.

He said that the anti-graft agency released him on bail within 48 hours as stipulated by law.

”The Efcc released me on bail tonite within 48hrs as stipulated by law.

“I was treated with utmost courtesy. I feel proud & grateful,” Okupe wrote.

His party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demanded for his ‘immediate and unconditional release’ on Tuesday.

EFCC operatives had on Saturday stormed Okupe’s Ilupeju apartment ‘without warrant or invitation letter’ asking him to follow them.
