The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to traditional rulers in Ogun to continue to support the governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration in its fight against insecurity in the state.

The NANS Chairman in the state Damilola Simeon made the appeal at a news conference, held by the association in Abeokuta on Thursday.

Simeon said it was important for traditional rulers, especially those in Yewa axis, to support government’s efforts at securing the lives and property of the people of the state.

He urged them not to allow certain politicians to take advantage of the unfortunate herders/farmers’ crises in some parts of Yewa land to create room for destructive criticisms.

The NANS chairman also called on Yoruba leaders to prioritise the unity of the nation above personal or selfish interests.

He also called on youths in the state to support the ongoing efforts of the government, aimed at addressing the pervading herders/farmers’ crises.

Simeon commended the governor for the provision of patrol vehicles/logistics to the recently-constituted Joint Security Intervention Squad, with the mandate of securing lives and property, particularly in the Yewa axis of the state.

He called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, create a Federal Joint Border Patrol Team to reinforce the security architecture of all border communities in the country.
