Actor Charles Inojie has spoken about his childhood and family struggles, saying that his relationship with his father was strained by tensions at home.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, he said he spent only a short period living with his father before a major disagreement in the household led to separation.
“In all my life, I’ve only lived with my father for eight months as his child. From the moment I moved in, it was trouble every single day. My stepmother told my father to choose between me and her, and he chose her,” he said.
He added that the situation also affected his education journey, especially when he gained admission into the university.
“When I finally got admission into the university, she insisted I should wait for her own child to grow so we could attend together a child I’m 18 years older than,” he said.
Charles said the experience shaped his early life and contributed to how he was raised, noting that he spent much of his upbringing away from both parents.
Reports from previous interviews show that the actor was largely raised outside his immediate parental home and relied on extended family support at different points while growing up.
Despite the challenges he described, Charles has gone on to build a career in Nollywood, featuring in several films and television productions over the years.
