The MTN Foundation has opened applications for its 2026 scholarship programmes for students in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The foundation said the application cycle covers its Science and Technology Scholarship (STS), Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) and a newly created scholarship category for medical students.
According to the foundation, the medical scholarship was previously part of its STEM scholarship category but has now been separated to provide support for medical students in public universities and teaching hospitals.
A total of 400 students, including 100 medical students, will receive annual scholarship grants of N300,000 each.
The foundation said the funds are meant to support tuition, textbooks and living expenses.
Executive Director of the MTN Foundation Odunayo Sanya said the programme reflects the organisation’s commitment to education and youth development.
“This call for applications reinforces our long-standing commitment to Nigerian youth by providing them with the resources needed to compete and excel globally,” she said.
“Our aim is to empower these bright minds to become the drivers of a technologically advanced Nigeria.”
Eligible applicants include 300-level students studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses in public tertiary institutions.
Medical students in 400 level at public universities and teaching hospitals are also eligible, alongside blind students in 200-level and 300-level courses.
The scholarship is renewable yearly until graduation, provided beneficiaries maintain the required academic performance.
Recipients under the Science and Technology Scholarship are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5, while beneficiaries under the Scholarship for Blind Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
The foundation added that beneficiaries would also receive mentorship, technical training and employability workshops through its Skill Up initiative.
Now in its 15th year, the MTN Foundation Scholarship Programme has supported thousands of students across Nigeria.
Applications close on May 31. Interested applicants can apply through MTN Nigeria.
