MOBO Awards: Wizkid beats Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage as best African act

Afrobeat singer Wizkid on Sunday beat Grammy Award winner Buna Boy, BET Award winner Davido and pop star Tiwa Savage to snag the highly coveted Best African Act category at the 2021 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards in the Uk.

The organisers of the award made the announcement during the event, they also announced it on Twitter.

Also nominated in the same category were Tems, Rema, Ckay, Arya Starr and King Promise.

Wizkid also won the Best International Act category, making history as the most awarded African act.

In the Best international act category, he was up against Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Drake, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, Polo G, Rema, Skillibeng, and Young Stoner Life (Young Thug & Gunna).

The MOBO Awards are an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in Music of Black Origin, including hip hop, grime, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
