Mo Abudu wraps production on star-studded Baba Segi’s Wives movie

Media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has announced the completion of production on the upcoming film adaptation of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives.

The movie, titled The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, is directed by Daniel Oriahi and adapted from the novel by Lola Shoneyin.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Mo shared news of the production wrap.

“Good morning beautiful people❤️❤️❤️ THE SECRET LIVES OF BABA SEGI’S WIVES has now officially wrapped production. Directed by @danieloriahi and adapted from the beloved novel by @lolashoneyin, created alongside our incredible partners @genesiscinemas @genesispicturesng, @the.nilegroup @thenileentertainment, @silverbirdcinemas @silverbirdfilmdistribution and @flytimehq @flytimefest.”

Originally published in 2010, the novel follows Baba Segi, a wealthy Ibadan polygamist, his four wives and their children. The story centres on Bolanle, an educated young woman whose arrival as the fourth wife exposes long hidden secrets within the household.

The film adaptation is being produced by EbonyLife Films in collaboration with Genesis Group, Nile Media Entertainment Group and Silverbird Group.

The screenplay was adapted by Adze Ugah.

Confirmed cast members include Odunlade Adekola as Baba Segi, alongside Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Ademoye, Omowunmi Dada, Shaffy Bello, Bisola Aiyeola, Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Manuel, Daniel Etim Effiong and Femi Branch.

Other actors announced for the project include Faithia Williams, Damilola Adegbite, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe and Mike Ezuruonye.

The movie is scheduled for release in cinemas during the Christmas season.
