Man blames alcohol for ‘raping’ mother in Imo

Rape

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Imo State Command has arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping his mother.

Paul Ihuaku, a native of Umueke Ezagbogu, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, was reported to the youth of the community by his mother.

Imo NSCDC commandant, Raji Ibrahim, said on Thursday that the suspect was later handed to the corps after being apprehended by the youth.

Mr Ihuaku told journalists that he committed the alleged offence under the influence of alcohol.

“After drinking on that fateful evening, there was a heavy downpour and I could not resist the urge for sex; so, I had to use a local pistol to threaten my mother to submission and I later raped her,” Ihuaku said.

The unmarried suspect again said: “I was not bewitched. I was under the influence of alcohol.”

Ihuaku’s mother, whose name has been withheld, said it was the second time the incident was occurring.

“I was in the kitchen and saw him (Ihuaku) with a pistol. He used it to threaten me. He told me that he would kill me. I could not do anything other than to beg him to drop the gun.

“It was in the process that he threw me on the ground and it (rape) happened,” she said.
