Leicester crash to Newcastle without Ndidi

Leicester City fell like a pack of cards on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Newcastle United in the absence of Wilfred Ndidi.

Ndidi, 21, had featured in all of the Foxes previous 31 Premier League matches.

However, an avoidable red card against Brighton last week, ruled him out of the Magpies visit.

In his absence, Claude Puel turned to Vicente Iborra and Adrien Silva in the middle of the park.

But both seemingly didn’t do enough as their flaws were exposed by the visitors.

Goals from Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Perez now have Rafael Benitez’s resolute side on the brink of top-flight safety after three straight successes, denting Leicester’s hopes of European qualification in the process.

Jamie Vardy provided some consolation for the hosts with a late strike.

Kelechi Iheanacho, meanwhile, was on the bench for the entire duration of the encounter.
