Ndidi, Troost Ekong, Ighalo should make 2018 CAF XI – John Ogu

Super Eagles star, John Ogu, has criticised the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after Wilfred Ndidi and William Troost-Ekong missed out on Africa’s Best XI for 2018.

The 30-year-old midfielder made his criticism in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

Accompanying a picture of the selected XI, the Hapoel Be’er Sheva player wrote, ‘Sorry to say this but @Ndidi25 should be here . My own opinion. Guys in that position didn’t do more than him.”

In another tweet, Ogu wrote, “Let’s put sentiment aside , I can argue this anywhere that @Ndidi25 ,@WTroostEkong ,even @ighalojude all should be there.

“Award is based on your performance for club and country and not how big of a club you play in. Ndidi plays for arguably the best league in the world,” he concluded.

CAF’s best XI includes Ugandan goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, Ivorian defenders, Serge Aurier and Eric Bailly, Senegalese Kalidou Koulibaly and Morrocan Mehdi Benetia.

The midfield comprise Guinea’s Naby Keita, Algerian Riyad Mahrez and Ghanaian Thomas Partey.

Senegalese Sadio Mane, Gabonese Pierre- Emerick- Aubameyang and African player of the year, Mohammed Salah, complete the front three.
