Late Soun of Ogbomoso’s first daughter dies

Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade

Prof Taibat Danmole, the first daughter of the late Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, has passed on, palace sources revealed on Sunday.

Danmole died on Saturday aged 71 after a brief illness, nearly one month after her father died.

“Baba’s first daughter died yesterday. She has been sick for sometime and it happened yesterday. We just pray that God will spare the lives of those of us remaining,” PUNCH quoted a palace source as saying.

Oba Oyewumi died on December 12 at the age of 95.

The monarch’s first daughter was a professor of education married to another university don, Prof. Hakeem Danmole, who is the dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.

Born on March 19, 1951, she was commissioner for education in Oyo State from 1997 to 1998. She was also a member, visitation panel to The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 2011.

Danmole taught at the University of Ilorin, Lagos State University and Al- Hikmah University.
