Nollywood actor and director, Kunle Afolayan, has said his brother, Aremu Afolayan, not him appears in a video which has sparked controversy on various social media platforms.

Kunle made the clarification in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

Aremu had called out President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, after his sister’s French passport was allegedly tagged fake even when it could easily be verified by immigration officers.

Clearing the air, the older of the Afolayan brothers said he had gotten several messages and tags, as regards the video, noting that he is not the one in the video.

He added a prayer in Yoruba that God should ease the pain in the land.

This is not the first time Kunle will publicly disassociate himself from statements made by the youngest son of the late legendary filmmaker, Adeyemi Afolayan, popularly known as Ade Love.

Aremu drew the ire of his older brother in April when he said in a PUNCH interview that he was born poor in spite of their father’s fame.

“I was born poor but I don’t know if my other brothers would say otherwise but I know that I was born poor in a makeshift wooden face-me-I-face-you house in a very poor area. Rich people never affiliated themselves with us or allowed their children to play with us,” he told the interviewer.

Responding, in another interview with the newspaper, Kunle said, “Do you know Ade Love? Was Ade Love a poor man? That is his (Aremu’s) own opinion as everyone has a mind of their own. I would not say things were rosy, but we were never poor. If your parents were able to give you quality education and you enjoyed some luxuries that a lot of people didn’t have access to, then you cannot openly say you come from a poor home.”
