Kidnappers release female NYSC member in Nasarawa

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nasarawa State has confirmed the release of Blessing Nwapa, Batch A Stream 1, a female youth corps member kidnapped on Friday, October 6.

Nwapa’s release was confirmed to newsmen in Lafia the state capital on Tuesday by NYSC coordinator in the state, Zainab Isah, on Tuesday,

Isah said, Nwapa from Abia, was kidnapped in Udege Mbeki community of Kokona Local Government Area.

She was released on Sunday unhurt.

“She was kidnapped on Friday on her way from the bank in company of some other corps members.

“They were robbed and after that she was picked up and taken away. She was the only female among them that day,” Isah said.

The NYSC, Isah added, in collaboration with the state government, security agencies and the traditional ruler of Osu Ojiri, Alhaji Halilu Bala-Usman, swung into action to effect her release.

Spokesperson of the police in Nasarawa, DSP Idrisu Kennedy, also confirmed the rescue of the kidnapped female corps member.

He said that efforts were underway to arrest the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
