Kano commissioner sacked for ‘celebrating’ Kyari’s death recovers from coronavirus

Mu’az Magaji, sacked Kano commissioner

The sacked Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Developments in Kano, Mu’az Magaji, has recovered from coronavirus (COVID-19).

Mr Magaji announced in a message posted on Facebook on Friday that he had been discharged from the hospital.

“To the Glory of Allah SWT, today Friday 22nd May and 29th Ramadan I have been confirmed Covid-19 negative and discharged from isolation centre,” he wrote.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had in April terminated Magaji’s appointment after he appeared to have celebrated the death of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

Mr Kyari died on April 17 of complications arising from the coronavirus.

After the sack, Magaji apologised for his action, saying he was ‘only misunderstood’.

He tested positive for COVID-19 on May 7.
