Kannywood veteran Karkuzu suffers blindness, cries for help

A veteran in Kannywood Abdullahi Shuaibu, popularly known as Karkuzu, has called for help from the general public, revealing his worsening health has seen him go blind.

Karkuzu gained prominence with his role in the popular drama Karkuzu Na Bodara in the 1980s.

The actor made a video which has gone viral on social media where he appealed to good-spirited Nigerians for financial aid.

He said he has been struggling with illness since December 2020 and that he could be homeless if he is unable to pay his rent.

“I am now blind as I am talking to you. I seriously need financial assistance. I don’t have food to eat and feed my family,” he told Leadership.

Karkuzu said his doctors told him he has glaucoma and that he unsuccessfully tried surgery twice.

“I have been under the knife twice, but finally the doctors said it is glaucoma, and that I will never see again. I have accepted that as my destiny. But Nigerians should kindly help me. Get me this house, and some food,” he said.
