Bashir Ahmad, former media aide of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed sadness over the death of Kannywood actress Saratu Gidado better known as Daso.

The actress who died on Tuesday morning was buried in the evening of the same day, according to Islamic rites.

Ahmad said in an Instagram post on Tuesday night that it was devastating to learn of her death, adding that Daso was billed to visit his family during the Eid festivities.

“It was so devastating to learn about the demise of Saratu Gidado, affectionately known as Daso, a renowned actress in the Hausa film industry. Just last week, she called my wife to let us know that she would visit us in Kano during the Eid festivities,” he wrote.

Ahmad noted that beyond her cinematic achievements, Daso was known for her philanthropy, particularly her advocacy and support for underprivileged children, especially orphans.

“I attended her Jana’iza prayer in Kano this afternoon and subsequently visited her bereaved family,” he added.

Daso made her debut in 2000 in a movie titled Linzami Da Wuta, produced by Sarauniya Movies.
