Kanayo O. Kanayo declares interest to run for House of Representatives

Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has declared his interest to run for a seat in the House of Representatives in 2019.

The 56-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal that history is about to be made as he solicited for the prayers and support of the people.

He hopes to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“Hello Friends, good evening. History has been made today as I declared my intention to run for the House of Representatives, Ahiazu/ Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency, Imo State under the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA. I owe you this information as I enlist your prayers and support. #OverAndOut,” he wrote.

 

Kanayo, born Anayo Onyekwere, made his debut film appearance in the 1992 movie Living in Bondage and has starred in over 100 films.

In 2006 he won the African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Kanayo is currently a United Nations ambassador and has the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).

He along with Kenneth Nnebue, Olu Jacobs, Enoch Adeboye, Queen Elizabeth and Fela Kuti were among Nigerians honored by the government in 2014 during the centenary celebration.

Fellow actor, Yul Edochie, recently announced that he will run for the Nigerian presidency in 2019 on APGA platform.
