Junior Lokosa: Red-hot forward painting Nigeria with goals

Every year, a new goal king springs forth in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Godwin Obaje, Stephen Odey and Anthony Okpotu have all left an enviable mark in the domestic scene in recent times.

The 2017/18 campaign appears to be Junior Lokosa’s.

The Kano Pillars marksman is in the form of his life, blazing and firing on all cylinders.

Lokosa’s brace in the 4-0 bashing of FC IfeanyiUbah on Wednesday took his tally to 14 from corresponding outings.

Masu Gida are currently second, with an impressive 21 strikes.

Put in context, Lokosa has single-handedly buried over 70 percent of his team’s chances.

With over 20 games still to play, he is on track to equal Mfon Udoh’s all-time record of 23 set in the 2013/2014 season.

Lokosa, 24, isn’t carried away though.

Yet he would jump at the chance to get into the flight to Russia.

“It will be a remarkable achievement if I get the chance but I am not thinking too much about that at the moment,” the ex-First Bank star told Complete Sports.

“The number one thing on my mind now is to help my club (Kano Pillars) win the league.”

Lokosa will be eyeing another productive outing this weekend when Pillars visit Wikki Tourists.
