Ifeanyi Ubah’s certificate is original – NECO

Ifeanyi Ubah

The National Examination Council (NECO) has certified the results which Senator Ifeanyi Ubah presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Bello Kawu of High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Kubwa, Abuja had ordered Ubah’s sack for allegedly submitting a forged NECO certificate to contest the February 23, 2019, senatorial election. But a higher court has restrained INEC and the Senate from executing the order.

In a letter dated January 23, 2020, and addressed to the National Secretary of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, NECO’s Head of Department of Legal and Board Affairs, Comfort Kolo, said Ubah passed seven out of the eight subjects he sat for in 2003.

NECO said the letter was in response to YPP’s request, seeking details of Ubah results.

The body said Ubah was given a statement of results in June 2003 containing the subjects he passed and the grades.

The results are English Language (C6), Mathematics (C6),  Government (C6),  Economics (C5), Literature in English (C5),  Commerce (C5)  and Christian Religious Studies (C6).

It, however, added that biology was not included in the statement of results because Ubah scored F9 in it.

Ubah told reporters in Abuja on Monday that he sat for the examination in 2003 at Cardoso High School, Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Lagos and that he is currently studying law (400 level) at Baze University, Abuja.

According to him, his accusers approached the court with a copy of his statement of results which indicated that he failed biology.
