I offered 150 cattle to marry Buhari’s daughter – Adamawa loverboy

A 22-year-old man Abdullahi Bashir who is the son of a herder from Adamawa State has revealed that he offered 150 cattle to marry Hanan Buhari, daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Hanan married Turad Sha’aban, a special adviser to the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola, on Friday in a private ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Apparently, Mr Bashir is one among several men who had hoped to tie the knot with Hanan who graduated with first-class degree in photography from a UK varsity last year.

Police in Kano had foiled an impending suicide after a man named Abba Ahmed threatened to kill self if Hanan did not marry him.

On his part, Bashir told Daily Trust that after his attempt to personally meet Hanan failed, he posted a video on social media in which he offered 150 cattle as bride price if she agreed to his proposal.

He said: “By offering 150 cattle for Hanan’s hand in marriage, I didn’t mean to show that I was wealthy, in fact I am nobody.

“I was not looking at the market value of the cattle, I was looking at the value of a cow to a Fulani man.

“It is easier for a Fulani man to give you N1 million than to give you his cow. This shows how much I value and love her.”

Bashir is a Google-certified web developer and digital marketer with interest in digital photography and videography.

He said Hanan caught his attention after he watched images of her taking professional pictures at an event in Bauchi.

Bashir’s obsession with her grew and soon he was nicknamed Gorko Hanan meaning ‘Hanan’s husband’ by his close friends.

He later discovered the photographer he had been pre-occupied with was the president’s daughter.

The young man did not back down on making the discovery.

Instead, he sought for the support of notable Fulani leaders for his lofty ambition and then travelled from Yola to Abuja to try his luck at finding her.

He said he gate-crashed into venues of high-profile weddings and other events hoping he would find Hanan taking pictures or sitted as a guest.

When he learnt that she was getting married to another man, he accepted it as the will of God and announced his contribution of 50 cattle for the wedding ceremony.

“Now that she is getting married, I wish her happy married life and I am happy to donate 50 cattle for the wedding,” he said.
