Reality TV star Kiddwaya has said that he made rich people watch Big Brother Naija.
The comment came after a post on X claimed that the reality TV show was responsible for making him popular.
The user wrote, “Big Brother Naija made Kiddwaya.”
Kiddwaya, who was one of the housemates in the 2020 Lockdown edition of the show, responded by disagreeing with the statement and insisting that he brought a different kind of audience to the programme.
He said, “I made rich people watch that show. I’m the reason why it’s popular among the 1%”.
His response has since generated reactions online, with some agreeing that BBNaija gave him visibility, while others supported his claim that his lifestyle and personality added a different appeal to the show.
Kiddwaya, whose real name is Terseer Kiddwaya, is the son of businessman and politician Terry Waya. During his time on BBNaija Season Five, he became known for his close friendship and later relationship with fellow housemate Erica Nlewedim.
He was also known for frequently speaking about luxury, travel and wealth while in the house. His lifestyle became one of the talking points of the season and contributed to his popularity among viewers.
Kiddwaya finished as one of the top finalists in the show, which was eventually won by Laycon.
