Former Big Brother Naija reality star Chizzy has reacted to comments made by Ilebaye’s father regarding her time on the show and his role in her victory.
On Monday, Ilebaye’s father spoke publicly about alleged abuse involving his daughter. He claimed he supported her during her BBNaija journey, while also accusing her of influencing her siblings with drugs. He further alleged that she was not financially supporting the family and described her as being on a self destructive path.
He also addressed a viral video showing him physically confronting her, saying he acted out of frustration. He added that she did not support him during a medical trip to Dubai and claimed there were tensions over his decision to separate from her mother. He later appealed to Nigerians to allow the matter to be resolved privately.
Reacting on his X account, Chizzy disputed parts of the father’s claims, particularly his statement about contributing significantly to Ilebaye’s BBNaija win.
“Ilebaye’s dad lied when he said he contributed 75% to Ilebaye’s win. I literally carried that girl on my shoulders, campaigning for her as if my life depended on it.
And ask me how she repaid me.
“She blocked and unfollowed me. Not just me, she unfollowed about 75% of the housemates, too. But regardless of everything, I will never support evil or stay silent when something wrong is done.
What her father did was completely wrong”.
Singer Jaywon also weighed in on the matter, questioning the father’s position and expressing concern over the alleged assault. He questioned the contradictions in sending a child to the BBNaija house while later making complaints about behaviour allegedly linked to that environment. He also condemned the reported violence and said it was wrong for anyone to justify it.
The controversy follows a viral Instagram live session last Saturday in which Ilebaye cried out for help, alleging she was assaulted and showing visible injuries. The incident was said to have occurred at her father’s residence in Wuye, Abuja on May 9.
Online reports also claimed she was locked inside the house before being assaulted, leaving her face swollen. These claims have not been independently confirmed by authorities.
There have also been circulating reports about long standing domestic issues in the family, including allegations of past abuse and separation between her parents. It was further claimed that her visit to check on her brothers may have led to the confrontation.
The situation continues to generate public reactions, with many calling for a proper investigation into the allegations.
