I have not resigned, Osinbajo insists

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (1)

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described reports about his resignation as fake news.

Rumours that Prof. Osinbajo was contemplating resigning started on Tuesday after President Muhammadu Buhari met with the service chiefs and three governors from the north.

No sooner had the meeting ended than some social media users began reporting that the vice president was angry at his exclusion from the meeting.

Some claim to have spoken with Osinbajo’s aides who confirmed that he was refused entrance at the meeting.

However, in a tweet on Thursday, Osinbajo said fake news is on the rise because of the transition period in the country.

“Misleading/FAKE news is on the rise especially in this season when Nigerians will make a choice about who will govern them for the next four years. I have not resigned!” Osinbajo wrote with a video attached.

He also pledged his loyalty to the Nigerian people under the leadership of his principal.

“I remain committed to the service of the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari,” he added.

Special adviser to Buhari on political matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, had on Thursday morning described reports that Osinbajo has resigned as fake news sponsored by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
