We die here: Ideye wants La Liga stay after Malaga relegation

Malaga may have slipped to the Spanish second-tier, however, Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, is hoping to remain in the La Liga.

Albicelestes’ relegation was confirmed last month after a last-gasp defeat to Levante.

Ideye, 29, who joined on loan from Chinese club, Tianjin TEDA, has chipped in just one goal since arriving in January.

Yet the ex-West Brom hitman has the ambition of staying put in the Spanish elite division.

“It’s unfortunate the situation we found ourselves in,” Ideye was quoted by AOIFootball.

“Malaga is a very good team but most of the damage was already done before now. But I am confident they can bounce back and return to the LaLiga at the first time of asking.

“I’m grateful to God that my footballing career has been really good, having played in most of the big leagues in the world. I want to keep playing in the big leagues to help develop me further as a player.

“I like the LaLiga and I will sure consider playing in another team here. I’m in a good team and I’m thankful for that, but this year was just very bad year for Malaga FC and I pray they come back up next year.”

Before moving to China, Ideye had stints in Nigeria, Switzerland, France, Ukraine and England.
