Honoured to be your son, Jimmy Odukoya says as dad leads worship in church

Actor Jimmy Odukoya says he is privileged to be the son of the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church Taiwo Odukoya after the latter led worship on Sunday days after losing his wife to cancer.

Odukoya’s wife Nomthi died on November 8 after battling with cancer for two years. She is to be buried on November 30.

Jimmy, who was born to Odukoya and his first wife Bimbo who died in a 2005 plane crash, commended his father’s strength in an Instagram post.

He said, “I sit here and marvel at the man my father @pastortaiwo is, He lost his wife @pastornomthi on Tuesday; (2nd wife he would loose to death ) and here He is worshipping on stage in church on Sunday leading the church to worship; What manner of man is this?”

The actor praised his father’s strength in the midst of pain, courage in the face of fear, faith in a sea of doubt, perseverance through disappointment, wisdom amid chaos among others.

He added, “The battles He has fought would break a lesser man; I am FULLY PERSUADED that the very breath of God flows through him and that is what continues to strengthen him. Ah Pastor Taiwo Odukoya!! NA MAN YOU BE !!! What an honour to come from your loins and carry your last name! What a privilege to be your son! What an advantage to have your DNA !! To a General in God’s Army; Your battle scars sing of your victories! I salute you Sir! No son could have a better Father.”

Jimmy has a sister Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun who was also born to Odukoya and the late Bimbo.

Odukoya’s action is not new among the Christian faithful in Nigeria. Hours after losing his son Dare Adeboye in May, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) preached a sermon in his usual calm manner.

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo also ministered at an event the day his wife Ibidun died.
