Tolu Odukoya recalls mother’s reaction after mess up

Associate senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church Tolu Odukoya has spoken about a personal mistake and how her late mother Pastor Bimbo Odukoya responded when she shared it.

She spoke during a conversation on the Dear Ife podcast, where she reflected on growing up in a religious home and the expectations that come with it.

Odukoya said at some point in her life, she made a decision she later described as a mistake. She did not give details but focused on what followed after she told her mother.

According to her, her mother did not respond with rejection but with reassurance.

“God is going to use you,” she recalled her mother saying.

Odukoya said she had asked if she could still be used by God after what happened and her mother told her yes, adding that different people would reach different audiences.

She said the response changed how she viewed herself and her experience.

“I realised that I’m not my mistakes. I have learned and I’m better for it,” she said.

Odukoya also spoke about expectations linked to her background as the daughter of Mrs Odukoya and Taiwo Odukoya, founder of The Fountain of Life Church.

In an earlier episode of the same series, she said she is not trying to take the place of her parents.

“Those shoes, my feet are not inside,” she said.

She said she sees her upbringing as a foundation but believes her path involves making her own choices.

Tolu Odukoya added that her experience has helped her understand the difference between expectation and personal growth.
