Desmond Elliot attacked by hoodlums, windscreen broken

Suspected hoodlums have attacked the vehicle of a Lagos House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Desmond Elliot.

Mr Elliot was said to have declined to give some young men money. They got upset and attacked his vehicle, breaking his windscreen in the process.

The incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m.on Saturday at Akerele junction, Surulere.

The actor and movie director currently represents Surulere in the assembly.

Supporters of Elliot at a nearby polling unit, PU20, Ward 7, Surulere, quickly called in reinforcement to rescue the lawmaker.

As soon as help came, thugs shot sporadically into the air, sending everyone running to take cover.

Armed reinforcement soon arrived the scene to restore calm to the area.

It is unclear yet how many arrests were made.

The police advised electoral officials to conclude vote counting early before the situation escalates.
