Gunmen kidnap four INEC officials in Bauchi

Gunmen have abducted four officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bauchi State.

The state is among a few others where the electoral body is conducting supplementary elections after polls were declared inconclusive.

A member of staff of the commission, who managed to escape, said the gunmen arrived in seven Toyota Hilux vans at polling unit code 010, registration area 02 in Jamare LGA.

The victims have not been identified by name. However, the source said they were taken away with voting materials.

“Four of our staff in Jamare LGA Registration Area 02 with Polling Unit Code 010 have been abducted with voting materials . The place was invaded by heavily armed security operatives who came in seven Toyota Hilux Vans, and took the four INEC officials to Jamare LGA to perfect their plots,” the source said.
