Gunmen kidnap Abia APC chairman ahead of Buhari’s visit

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Donatus Nwankpa, has reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Mr Nwankpa was reported to have been kidnapped on Monday night.

The chairman’s personal assistant was said to have escaped, however, another party official was kidnapped alongside Nwankpa.

Abia APC spokesperson, Benedict Godson, confirmed the kidnap on Tuesday morning.

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to visit Aba, the state’s commercial nerve centre, to commission the 9.5 Megawatts Independent Power Plant, at Ariaria Market in Osisioma Ngwa council area.

Mr Buhari will also attend a rally by his party at the Enyimba stadium.
