Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tinubu, accompanied by his chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila, received Jonathan and immediately went into a closed-door meeting.

The meeting comes hours after the Supreme Court upheld Tinubu’s victory at the February poll.

Jonathan’s visit is believed to be connected to his work as special envoy of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) leading mediation talks in Mali.

The West African nation has been under military rule since the August 2020 coup that ousted President Ibrahim Keita.

In September 2023, the Malian military government announced that it would delay a presidential election scheduled for February 2024 which was aimed at returning civilian rule.
