Fubara’s mother-in-law dies at 87

Siminalayi Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has lost his 87-year-old mother-in-law Adeline Jaja.

Women from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State, under the auspices of Rivers Women Unite for Sim, on Tuesday commiserated with the governor’s wife Lady Valerie Fubara over the death of her mother.

In a press statement, Bridget Jumbo, deputy media assistant to Mrs Fubara, said the women expressed their heartfelt sympathy to the Rivers first family over the loss.

The women were led by Rivers State Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu on the condolence visit at the Banquet Hall Government House, Port Harcourt.

Odu described the late matriarch as a great mother who served humanity selflessly and diligently.

“We’ve gathered here to express our sympathy over the loss of your mother. We want you to know how much we love you and appreciate you,” she said.

“This is a clear representation of women from all the LGAs who have come to condole you over the loss of this wonderful mother. She was an upright, dedicated police officer who made us proud. She was diligent and committed in her work, and her diligence is transferred to you.”

Lady Fubara thanked the group for their concern and show of love and urged them to remain united.

“I thank you specially for making out time to show your love towards me, towards the state. I’m happy that you people are united. I’m happy that where my mother is, there’s nothing like pain, her desire is that under the watch of my husband, Rivers State will be peaceful,” she said.
