Lai Mohammed’s son loses third term bid for Lagos Assembly

Member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikeja State Constituency 1, Folajimi Mohammed, has lost his bid to represent the constituency for a third consecutive term.

Mohammed is the son of the minister of information and culture Lai Mohammed.

Mohammed was defeated by Seyi Lawal on Friday at the All Progressives Congress’ primary election.

Lawal, a former legislative leader of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, polled 15 votes while Mohammed got nine votes.

Nine aspirants contested the election. The other seven polled no votes at all, while there was one void vote.

In his acceptance speech, Lawal commended the electoral committee, noting that the election was free and fair.

He thanked the leaders of the party for giving the aspirants an opportunity to test their popularity while assuring the members of the constituency of better and quality representation in the house of assembly.

“I thank the delegates, party faithful and the people of Ikeja constituency 1 for showing their support and l promise not to disappoint them,” he said.
