On January 4, 2016, Adeduntan resumed work as MD/CEO of FirstBank and its commercial banking subsidiaries, succeeding Bisi Onasanya.

On April 28, 2021, he was removed as MD/CEO of the bank by its board of directors. However, he was reinstated by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on April 29, a day after he was removed by the board.
