The Federal Government has filed amended seven-count charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony against leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

One of Mr Kanu’s lawyers Maxwell Opara told journalists on Monday at the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja of the amended charges.

“The Federal Government has filed amended seven counts against Kanu,” he said with no details.

Mr Opara accompanied Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to file a motion on notice seeking an order granting him (Ubah) leave to visit Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu will be re-arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The IPOB leader was reportedly arrested in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria on controversial circumstances to continue his trial after jumping bail in 2017.
