Fayose meets Olubadan amid impeachment claims in Oyo

Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday met with the Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State, amid claims of an impeachment plot and tension involving the state government.

Mr Fayose arrived at the monarch’s residence around 4:50 pm and held a closed-door meeting that lasted about 30 minutes.

Details of the meeting were not made public.

Speaking briefly before the meeting, Fayose said, “I am in Ibadan to identify with the traditional institution. The truth about the whole saga will soon be revealed.”

The visit followed Fayose’s earlier claims that Governor Seyi Makinde was planning to remove Oba Ladoja as Olubadan.

He had also referred to claims of a rift between the state government and the monarch, as well as reports linking the traditional institution to an alleged plan to impeach the governor.

The Olubadan had earlier distanced himself from any plan to impeach the governor.

The claims have drawn attention in the state, with political actors and stakeholders reacting to the situation.
