FACT CHECK: Did Saidi Balogun appear in Tinubu endorsement video with ex-wife and other Yoruba actors?

Actor Saidi Balogun

Yoruba movie stars including Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, also known as Oga Bello, Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, Faithia Williams, Yinka Quadri, Lanre Hassan, popularly known as Iya Awero, Eniola Ajao, Olaiya Igwe, Foluke Daramola, Femi Adebayo, Shola Kosoko and Murphy Afolabi have declared their support for APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

The show of support by the entertainers was made in a video uploaded on Instagram on Wednesday, June 29, by Quadri, Kosoko, Murphy and others.

Some media reports subsequently claim actor Saidi Balogun was also featured in the campaign video alongside his ex-wife Faithia Williams and others.

A blog was the first to erroneously list Saidi Balogun as one of the actors in the video. Others, including widely circulated newspapers, simply copied and pasted the names without paying attention to the content of the video.

However, contrary to some media reports, Saidi Balogun was not featured in the video.

A careful look at the video by Qed.ng revealed that the actor did not partake in the campaign for Tinubu.

Others who were featured in the video include Madam Saje, Funke Etti, Olaiya Igwe, Toyin Adegbola, Yemi Ayebo, Abbey Lanre, Olusoji Taiwo, Toyosi Adesanya and Akin Olaiya.
