An explosive device has gone off at the home of factional secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Lawrence Okah.

Mr Okah is loyal to the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, who has been in a long-standing battle with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The bomb which went off on Tuesday shattered a part of the building in Benin leaving a hole in the ground.

Anti-bomb police officers were at Okah’s residence around 8 am.

There were no casualties from the explosion.

Okah said the incident happened around 12:30 am.

APC chieftains, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pius Odubu and others were at his residence on a solidarity visit.

Police have not made an official statement on the incident.

Last November, Okah was removed as state secretary of the party. The APC said the decision was taken after a meeting of the State Executive Committee on November 12, 2019, where a vote of no-confidence was passed on Okah.
