A preacher, Akinjide Durojaiye, was on Thursday mobbed for allegedly stealing two new Tecno mobile phones from a shop at Femi Johnson Building in Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Durojaiye said he was an evangelist at the Dominion Assembly, Ilare-Ijesa in Osun State.

He said he was ‘led’ by the ‘spirit’ to preach to the shop attendants and others.

The 49-year-old was, according to reports, mobbed while trying to flee with the phones valued at N70,000.

Durojaiye was said to have hidden in a store within the complex while he was being chased. He was later found by one of the attendants.

The preacher attributed the incident to the devil, saying he was trying to raise money for his seven-year-old son who is hospitalised in Osun.

He said he was a father of four and that his son, Oluwadurosinmi, was hospitalised after jumping from a two-storey building in Ilare-Ijesa.

Durojaiye claimed that his wife had left him to take care of the children alone.

He was later released after people around the neighbourhood intervened.
