2 sales assistants docked over an alleged theft of employer’s N193,170

Two sales assistants – Francisca Ekaette and Abiodun Amao, were on Monday docked in a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing their employer’s N193,170.

The defendants, who reside at Mashafa, Mpape, and Federal Housing, Lugbe, Abuja, respectively, are facing a five-count charge of a joint act, criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery and theft.

The prosecutor, Adeyemo Johnson, said the defendants committed the alleged offences on June 4, at H-Medix Pharmacy and Store, Wuse 2, Abuja.

He said that the defendants conspired and converted N193, 170, paid by customers for goods to their personal use.

Johnson said that the defendants altered receipt printouts from Point of Sales (POS), in a bid to cover their actions.

He said the offences contravened Sections 79, 312, 322, 364 and 289 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Chinyere Nwecheonwu, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

Nwecheonwu adjourned the case until Aug. 26, for hearing.
