Enyeama snubs Moses, applauds William Troost-Ekong’s CAF nomination

Vincent Enyeama

Ex-Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama, has applauded the nomination of William Troost-Ekong for the 2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Player of the Year award.

Troost-Ekong, 24, and Victor Moses are the only Nigerians who made it into the 30-man shortlist for the annual gong.

Instead of backing the Chelsea star whom he has played so many times together in with the national team, Enyeama opted for the ex-Dutch youth international.

Troost-Ekong made his debut in 2015, almost the same time the veteran goalkeeper called time on his international career.

Not minding whether he’s played together with the 24-year-old, Enyeama was very much pleased to see him nominated.

He took to Twitter to celebrate Troost-Ekong’s latest feat.

Troost-Ekong, who plays his club football at Bursaspor, has developed into a mainstay in the Super Eagles.

The charismatic defender played in every of Nigeria’s qualifying game for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Winner of the African Player of the Year award will be decided by votes from the head coaches/technical directors of the national associations affiliated to the federation, members of the Technical and Development Committee and a panel of media experts.

The award ceremony will be held in Accra, Ghana, on January 4, 2018.
