Actor and House of Representatives aspirant for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in Abuja under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Emeka Ike, has called on the government to take urgent steps to address insecurity across the country.
Emeka made the appeal during a peaceful protest in Abuja led by social media personality Verydarkman over the rising wave of insecurity in Nigeria.
Addressing security officials, the actor expressed frustration over the effect of insecurity on the lives of ordinary Nigerians, noting that he could no longer enjoy travelling by road because of safety concerns.
“I love road travel, but today I am denied of my best form of travel. So many Nigerians love to have it on the road, but we are no more safe,” he said.
He stressed that authorities must act quickly before the situation worsens.
While noting that his family has not been directly affected, Emeka said many Nigerians are already suffering the consequences of insecurity.
He also appealed for an end to killings and bandit attacks, warning that continued violence could threaten the country’s future.
“Let’s stop this killing. Let’s stop bandits from taking over our country. If our country is taken, where will all of us work?” he stated.
Emeka recently announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency under the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The actor has in recent months become more active in political affairs, participating in party activities and public engagements in the Federal Capital Territory.
His comments come amid ongoing concerns over insecurity in several parts of Nigeria, with citizens and civil society groups continuing to call for stronger measures to address banditry, kidnappings and violent attacks.
