Self-acclaimed relationship expert Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has returned to social media weeks after facing backlash over her claim of having stage four breast cancer.
The controversy started in March when she announced that she had been diagnosed with the illness. She shared what she described as a medical report to support her claim and appealed to the public for financial assistance.
However, Xinus Medical Diagnostics disputed the report, alleging that it had been altered. The facility said the original document belonged to Deborah Mbara and was issued in May 2025.
Mbara, a makeup artist and cancer survivor, later came forward to explain how Blessing CEO allegedly obtained her medical record. She accused the influencer of using her health information without consent.
Following the claims, Mbara’s family petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Blessing CEO of cyberbullying, forgery and running a fraudulent fundraising scheme.
The petition alleged that she collected over N300 million from Nigerians by presenting the cancer diagnosis as her own.
The Nigerian Cancer Society also called for an investigation, stating that it would work with relevant authorities to ensure accountability and protect public trust in genuine cancer advocacy.
Amid the backlash, Blessing CEO deactivated her Instagram page. Weeks later, she returned to the platform.
Checks show that she has deleted posts related to the cancer claim, including interviews and updates shared during the period. One post remains on her page, a documentary style video advising women on how to carry out proper breast checks.
Before deactivating her account, Blessing CEO had maintained that she was undergoing treatment and had asked for support from followers and well-wishers. Reports indicated that donations were made during the period, with critics questioning the transparency of the fundraising.
The matter remains under public scrutiny, with calls for a thorough investigation into the allegations and the handling of donations made during the period.
