Actor Tony Umez is mourning his mother-in-law, Caroline Nwawulu.
Tony announced her death in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
Sharing a photo of the deceased surrounded by candles and the inscription, “Mrs Caroline Nwawulu. May your soul rest in perfect peace, mom.”
In his caption, the 60-year-old described her as a “rare gem” and said he and his family have taken solace in God.

A rare gem has gone; a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, my mom-in-law like no other has passed 💔.
I/We take solace in the fact that God loves you more.
May your soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace 🕊️🙏🍻,” he wrote.
Tony Umez, who is married to Patsy Ogochukwu, has in the past spoken fondly of his in-laws and how close-knit his family is.
Born in Ogidi, Anambra State, the actor is known for his roles in films such as Died Wretched, Billionaire’s Club, and A Second Time. He has been active in Nollywood since the 1990s and is loved for his calm delivery and command of both English and Nigerian languages.
Tony lost his biological mother in October 2013. Announcing her death at the time, he wrote on Facebook, “I lost my dearest mum… Rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord. Adieu Mum.”
He described her as a “great woman” who taught him to respect women.
“She would always say: ‘Tony, when a girl starts her period, she starts her journey towards motherhood.’ I have that at the back of my mind,” he said in a past interview.
Tony and his wife have four daughters.
