Socialite and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has come out in support of his colleague, Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money, following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations of Naira abuse.

E-Money was apprehended on Monday night at his residence in the Omole Area of Lagos, with sources within the EFCC revealing that the businessman was arrested for allegedly spraying United States dollars, an act considered a violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.

In an emotional show of solidarity, Cubana Chief Priest highlighted E-Money’s efforts to uplift the Southeast region, particularly through his homecoming concert during Easter, which he described as a major success.

He suggested that the businessman’s strength and influence had made him a target.

According to Cubana, the authorities aimed to break E-Money, possibly to coerce him into supporting them under duress.

“This is a guy who just did everything to push up Southeast with his just-concluded homecoming concert this Easter. I knew they would come for him because they just saw his strength; they were doing this so they could break him to make him secure in supporting them under duress,” Cubana wrote.

Cubana Chief Priest also emphasised that the oppression of Igbos would not cease. He boldly declared that, despite the challenges, the Igbos would continue to thrive, with more billionaires emerging in the coming years.

“The oppression of us Igbos will never stop, but let me tell all of you, we will never stop. We don’t die; we multiply. More billionaires are coming up. Come 2027, we will support and vote for who we want to. We won’t be broken. We will even be stronger. We will reciprocate how we were treated with our energy, brotherhood, support, votes, and affluence.”

In his message to E-Money, Cubana Chief Priest expressed his unwavering support, assuring him that he would emerge stronger from the ordeal, much like the enduring luxury of a Rolls Royce.

“It’s nothing, brother. I have been there. It will make you stronger. It’s just like our Rolls Royce – a location for the rich and famous, a status symbol,” Cubana added.

The EFCC had previously arrested Cubana Chief Priest in 2024 over alleged Naira abuse.

The commission had filed a three-count charge against him for reportedly spraying and tampering with Naira notes at a social event, in contravention of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

He was later granted bail.
