An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Tuesday remanded Godwin Alawa for the alleged murder of his wife, Victoria Edet, 42.

Alawa, 48, who appeared on a charge of murder, is to remain behind bars pending advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

His plea was not taken.

Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin had earlier told the court that Alawa committed the offence on February 11, at No. 16, Budland St., Ojodu.

She said Alawa was in the habit of beating the deceased, and on the said date, he allegedly
beat Victoria to death.

The offences contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which prescribes death sentence if found guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Komolafe ordered that Alawa should be kept behind bars and adjourned until April 16 for receipt of advice.
