The police have commenced an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found on Runway 18R at the wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

Spokesman of the Airport Command Olayinka Ojelade told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the body might probably be that of one of the hoodlums who usually jump through the airport fence.

“l can confirm that a mangled, unidentified body was found at the International Airport runway on Thursday which was probably hit by taxing aircraft.

“We are still investigating the case of the dead body and once we are through we will communicate to you our findings.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Force yesterday evacuated the corpse from the runway,” he said.

The airport was temporarily closed on Thursday after the body was found.

On December 27, 2019, an unidentified man found his way into the airside and mounted a moving Air Peace aircraft.
