Chrisland Schools: Don’t buy phone for any child not in university — Ibiyeomie

David Ibiyeomie

Founder of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie has cautioned parents not to buy their children phones until they get to higher institutions of learning.

Ibiyeomie stated this while addressing his congregation. A video of his speech was posted to his Facebook page.

“Don’t buy a phone for any child who has not gone to the university. It may sound very awkward. I know you are too civilised, but don’t do it,” he said.

“Don’t buy a phone, it is not civilisation, phones and tablets, many things pop up, they can use your own, let them use your own phones. Buy a landline and put it in your parlour.”

His comments came in the wake of the controversy at Chrisland Schools in Lagos where a pupil engaged in sexual activity with her peers during a school trip to Dubai, UAE.

The pupil is alleged to own an account on Likee where she posts dance videos.

While her mother has accused the school of attempting to conceal the incident, insisting her daughter was gang-raped, the school denied the allegation on the grounds that the pupil was the brain behind the “immoral acts”.

The police are currently investigating the matter as the school remains shut.
