Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has been gifted a new car months after celebrating his 70th birthday.

The actor received the vehicle from the CEO of Pineleaf Estate, Bishop Nzekwesili.

Sharing a video of himself, his wife and the car on social media, Chiwetalu expressed appreciation to the businessman and asked fans to pray for him.

“An appreciation message to the CEO of Pineleaf Estate, Bishop Nzekwesili, for gifting me a brand-new car. Please say a word of prayer for him”.

The gift comes months after the actor marked his 70th birthday in March, drawing tributes from colleagues and fans for his contributions to Nollywood.

Chiwetalu Agu is known for his comic delivery, use of Igbo expressions and roles in several Nollywood productions including Issakaba and Living in Bondage.

The actor recently dismissed rumours of his death. In a video, he said he would continue enjoying life until God calls him home.

In August last year, the 70-year-old raised concern among fans after posting a video from a hospital where he was being cared for by his wife and son. He also thanked a prophet for supporting his medical and spiritual care at the time.

Born in Enugu State, Chiwetalu began acting in the 1980s and has remained one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors. He won the Best Actor in an Indigenous Movie award at the 2012 Nollywood Movie Awards.
