Actress Chioma Akpotha has expressed gratitude to her loved ones after they threw her a surprise party in celebration of her win at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The 45-year-old shared a video from the emotional gathering on Instagram on Thursday, showing the joyful and heartfelt moments she experienced as family and friends came together to honour her.
In the clip, Chioma is seen laughing, shedding tears and embracing her guests in what she described as a deeply moving celebration.
The event was held days after she emerged winner of the Best Lead Actress category at the 11th edition of the AMVCA.
“I’m still overwhelmed!” she wrote in the caption.
“A few days ago, my family and loved ones planned a beautiful night out to celebrate our AMVCA win, and boy, was it an amazing night! I cried, crewed and cried.
“To be loved, accepted, seen and celebrated is such great medicine for the heart. It is a blessing!”
She went on to appreciate members of her inner circle and fans, mentioning names like @joyce_pender, @winifredunusual, @ikenna__odiachi, @kumbsy, @treasuredanielz, and others for making the night memorable.
Chioma also gave a special shoutout to her Houston-based family, writing, “My #HoustonFam, you guys ROCK!”
Chioma’s portrayal in Seven Doors has been widely acclaimed, with critics praising her depth and authenticity in the role.
The film itself garnered multiple awards at the AMVCA 2025, including Best Lead Actor for Femi Adebayo and Best Music Score for Tolu Obanro.
