Actor Chimezie Imo will be making his theatrical debut. in a new production titled Project X Almost Famous, reuniting with Mike Afolarin, Emeka Nwagbaraocha and Tomiwa Tegbe years after they starred together in the 2018 film Kasala.
The production is scheduled to run on July 18, 19, 25 and 26, at AGIP Hall, MUSON Centre in Lagos.
The stage drama is produced by The MECT Company, a creative collective formed by the four actors after years of friendship and collaboration. The group said the aim is to develop stories shaped by shared experiences and everyday realities, with a focus on contemporary life and youth driven narratives.
Project X Almost Famous is written by Chiemeka Osuagwu and directed and produced by Goodness Emmanuel. It follows four friends and former members of a defunct music group called 4 Eva as they navigate life in Lagos.
The story explores friendship, ambition, failure, survival and hope, set against the pressures of the city. It also features live musical elements and dialogue driven scenes that reflect the characters’ shared past and present struggles.
The actors previously appeared together in the comedy drama Kasala, directed by Ema Edosio. The film followed four friends trying to raise money after crashing a borrowed car in Lagos.
Since Kasala, Chimezie Imo has featured in projects including Nimbe and Breath of Life, while Mike Afolarin gained wider recognition for his lead role in the Netflix series Far From Home.
